Feeding the Mans*

Last night my WMU circle prepared dinner for the homeless men who are currently staying at our church through a program called PACEM. They've been here since Saturday and will stay until next Saturday. During their two week stay we wash their laundry, feed them dinner, and provide other comforts. Last night someone even gave haircuts.

The kids really enjoy participating in PACEM. We've done it every year since it began in our town so they've pretty much grown to expect that it'll be a part of their winter lives. They love to help serve dinner and then when dinner's over they enjoy the games and activities.






Our family's calendar pretty much revolves around PACEM during their 2-week stay. We're going back tonight when the Youth will serve dinner and play games, David's Bible Study class is serving dinner Sunday night after which he'll spend the night, and my girl scout troop will come to help serve dinner and play games on Valentine's Day.

It's such a good ministry to be part of. So much of the time we send money to this charity or that organization and never really see any real results. With PACEM the men are real. They live among us. They are no longer nameless beings who live on the corner or under the bridges. And what we do for them really helps them, today, when they need it.
