PR!
The JV girls ran at 12:15 just as it started getting hot. They were lucky, all of the other races followed and it just kept getting hotter and hotter. Or at least it felt that way! Here they are coming up a mild, but long, hill just after the one-mile mark. Morgan is running with her teammate A1, and they look pretty good. Granddaddy surprised us all and showed up just as Morgan ran by!
Here she is coming back by the same spot a little before the 3 mile mark. This time she's running behind A1's twin sister A2!
Finally, the finish! There were so many runners in this race. It's not a common sight to see this many runners at this pace coming in together. In a regular dual or tri meet the runners will usually be spaced out, with one or two really close finishes. In this meet all but the very last runners ran in a crowd the whole way! Here's our girl after her strong finish - she hit a PR by over a minute! Great run, Morgan!
After running and grabbing some Gatorade, and posing for the obligatory picture for me, Morgan (and David) headed home so that she could shower her ride arrived to take her to two band competitions being held near Richmond.
Katherine and I stayed at the meet until the bitter end! We had to stay because we brought drinks and snacks for the runners and couldn't leave without our stuff, and couldn't take our stuff until all of the runners had raced. We had fun cheering and wandering, and playing with the coach's kids!
