Feeding Time

Will and I visited Granddaddy today. Every once in a while we visit for the afternoon and help Granddaddy feed the fish. After playing with toys inside for a short while, Will and Granddaddy did just that. They went down to the pond to feed the fish.

Then we walked on the path through the woods, with Granddaddy and I trailing the much faster boy! He wanted to go on the other path in the other woods, but we wanted to rest. When we told him he could go by himself, he asked if there were bears in there. We didn't think so, but he wasn't so sure about it and opted to stay with us!

After another brief sit on the bench by the pond, the guys decided they needed to feed the birds. Not all of the birds, just the green feeder. Feeding all of the birds would take all afternoon and we didn't have time for that!

As they were taking the feeder down we heard a dog go into the other woods after something - we figured it was a good thing Will hadn't gone into those woods by himself after all!

So they slowly worked the feeder down to the ground. It took a lot of teamwork! Granddaddy worked hard and Will said things like "Get it!"

The feeder is on a pulley to keep the squirrels from getting to the seed. We've given Granddaddy so many squirrel-proof bird feeders over the years and not one of them has worked well at all. It's Granddaddy's mission to keep the birds happy, not the squirrels!

Then they got to pull the rope to bring the feeder back up into the tree. They pulled and then Will wrapped the rope around the trunk and granddaddy tied the rope tight!

"Oops! Granddaddy, we spilled!"

So the squirrels will be happy after all!
