Project 365: Day 64 - March 4
My Circle met last Tuesday evening, as we usually do on the first Tuesday evening of the month. Tonight though, things were different.
First we had dinner together. We don't normally so that, unless you consider our summer monthly meetings which take place at The Outback.
Dinner was a delicious (I made it, but it wasn't my recipe!!) Taco soup a la Southern Living, corn muffins, baby spinach salad with mandarin oranges and craisins, and ham & cheese biscuits. Yum. Dessert came later, after our guest speaker. We had angel food cake and brownies with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries & blueberries, and whipped cream with a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Like we needed the chocolate sauce!
The second thing that was abnormal for the meeting was that we actually had the woman after whom our circle is named come to speak. About twenty-five years ago some of these women were The Baptist Young Women. After a while they decided that they should become a circle since they were getting older and might not really be considered young women, in the sense that they had always used the term. So they named themselves after a young missionary, Kittie Colvin Trail, who was related to one of the members.
Over the years we have been able to keep up with the Trail's work. But on Tuesday, Kittie came and shared her story with us. She started at the beginning when she was a summer missionary, went through the times in Rwanda, Botswana and Mauritius, and ended with the family coming back to the states last year. She is currently with the International Mission Board in Richmond where she works to recruit Masters.
