Project 365: Day 70 - March 10

Do you see those four blue donut-like things? They are called spacers. The purpose of spacers is to make space between teeth so that they will be ready to receive braces.

No one could have prepared my youngest daughter for the discomfort that would come with the insertion of her spacers. Being a true blue white coat-a-phobe, she was already in distress even before the tech asked her to open her mouth. She asked every question imaginable and then some. Finally, exhausted, Katherine allowed the process to begin. Four spacers should have taken all of a minute. I'd say they earned their money today!

Just so you know, they are stuck in there for good - at least until Monday when two will be removed in favor of real braces.

Someone, please tell me that having the braces put on won't be as traumatic.

The reward.

A super cold chocolate milkshake...and a lot of pain relief.

Spacers are the WORST! Braces are not nearly that bad.
