Heading to the Beach
Dog in the kennel. Up early. Van packed. Kids happy. Time to go!
After trading passengers, two families in the beach entourage headed east. We stopped once at a church to make an offering, then drove a few more miles before stopping for lunch. The BK employees looked a bit unsure when the 13 of us wandered in...but we got our food, and just in time, too! Just as we sat down to eat our burgers and a large group of motorcyclists drove up.
One of the guys had a green cap on his boot. Apparently he uses it to protect his boot from the wear caused by shifting gears. I never would have known that nugget of information if I hadn't been challenged to ask the gentleman about it and take his picture.
Our drive continued and as we got closer and closer to our destination Will asked (over and over and over again), "When are we going to be at the beach house?" No amount of explanation would satisfy him!! Thankfully, before too long the phone rang. It was Mark in the lead vehicle asking if we wanted to stop and see The Grave Digger. "Of course", we said, "anything to prolong the agony!" So we stopped at the monster trucks! The kids ran over to the trucks and had a great time climbing on them. The wheels alone were bigger than all of the kids!
Finally we made it to the beach, almost two hours early! We weren't sure how we would explain to Will that yes, we were at the beach, and yes, we had the key to our house, but no, we could not go there yet! On a whim we decided to drive by and look at the house before hitting the stores. Our luck was with us, the owners were there and they let us in early! Yay!!!!
The kids claimed their rooms and then were brought back to reality by the adults! We settled in and got the cars unpacked, and then the third family arrived! The house was now complete!
The cast of characters:
Family #1: Garbage man, CameraFace, Cross-country Chick, Syrup Queen, Snaggletooth, and CheeseBoy.
Family #2: Vacation CEO, Scrabble Queen, CallyBob, Google, Beaners and Boo.
Family #3: MUV (Most Useful Vacationer), JazzerKate, SuperHero, Sidekick and MPV (Most Popular Vacationer)!
and, last but not least, the Breastfeeding Babysitter!
With such an interesting group, we won't be able to help having a great time!!!

"Garbage Man"? Don't I at least rate "Sanitation Engineer"?
