Go Mustangs!

The temperature was much hotter today than we thought it would be. The girls weren't ready for that much heat. None of them were. It really slowed them down quite a bit. Some of our runners just wilted, but others managed to pull off a decent race.

At this point (loop one) I think the girls were just past the mile mark. Morgan was running right on A's tail, which is where she wanted to be. The 5K course looped twice before veering off to the finish.


Right here on loop two Morgan had run just over two miles and, with many of the runners, we could tell the heat was making it a difficult race. Unlike road races, these races don't have water stops along the way!

After seeing some of our girls finish, I looked up at the power line poles and saw Morgan coming over the hill! She was ahead of the two girls she wanted to beat and also ahead of A. Poor A was really affected by the heat.

Morgan finished strong.

Two Gatorades and some water later, Morgan felt hydrated enough to talk to her sisters and friend. Brother Will slept through the entire meet, waking up only when it was over and time to go home!
