Groovy Sprouts Rock Once Again!!

Today the Groovy Sprouts competed in the State Destination Imagination Tournament. They rocked!

Their challenge was to create a live Music ViDIo that dramatically retells a piece of published literature; integrate music and team-created lyrics into the Music ViDIo; dramatically portray a Character from the chosen piece of literature; create and integrate choreography into the viDIo; create and present a grand entrance or grand exit using technical methods; and create two side trips and integrate them into the presentation.

After several meetings without a decision last fall, the team finally chose The Very Hungry Caterpillar as their story. Then they cast themselves into the story - Maggie was the caterpillar, Jenna the Italian pasta, Katherine the French cheese, Mandi the Japanese rice ball, Mason the Calamari and Jake the Kiwi. They wrote lyrics and put them to music. After many revisions they were ready to really practice!

At Regionals they scored highest in their Main Challenge and didn't do so well on their Instant Challenge. Still their combined score was good enough overall to take second place and advance to States!

Today, the team scored higher than ever in the Instant Challenge portion of the competition, nearly doubling their prior score! Amazing! They did well on their Main Challenge too, but the Instant Challenge was the highlight of their day!

The Sprouts came in 3rd overall in their challenge, just shy of advancing to the Global competition in Knoxville next month. Something to strive for next year!

While they went from challenge to challenge, Caroline and I had fun at the silent auction and pin auctions! Caroline won a shirt with some cool pins (most of which she gave to K!), and we scored some cool pins for Katherine's collection!

Thanks to all of K's fans who made it to the main challenge! For those who didn't make it, you can see their viDIo here later.

I thought I'd pop in and say hi and see what you guys have been up to!

I love your quilt! I've been interested in quilting for awhile now, but haven't done anything about it. I need to find a class or something.

Take care!
