We Were So Ready

They were calling for snow and ice today. In fact, it was snowing when the kids left for school this morning. We were all sure we'd get there, stay until the buses had all made their rounds, and then head home again.

Didn't happen. Instead the snow just disappeared. One minute it was there and the other, it was gone. Poof!

The worst part is that it was snowing all around us. All around us schools were cancelled or closing early. Nothing here. Nada.

I'm really okay with the kids staying at school ... once they're there. My thrill is finding out we don't have to get up at all, rolling over, and snuggling deeper for a sleep in! The last (and only, so far) snow day was great - we got a call just before 5AM letting us know that schools were closed. It was fabulous! We didn't have to call, and we didn't have to check the email or watch the news. Just answered the phone, listened to a recording, and went back to sleep... who could complain about that?! Apparently someone did, because we got an apology for the 5AM call. Pick your battles, people!
