Monday Scenes

Several of the adults and all but 2 of the kids hit the beach mid-morning. The weather was great and the sun was hot! The water was so cold that after a few seconds our feet became numb! How the kids stayed in the water as long as they did is beyond me!

CallyBob and Google stayed in the water so long that they didn't thaw out until late! Cheeseboy enjoyed the water, but mostly played in the sand! He, SuperHero and SideKick dug endless holes and carried numerous buckets of water up from the waves. Beaners and the babysitter jumped waves until they got knocked down and the babysitter lost her brand new sunglasses. Boo, hiss.

I'm sure everyone would have stayed out all day if it weren't for the inevitable sunburn and empty stomachs!! After a few hours, we all headed back to the house for lunch, more sunscreen, and and they all hit the pool!

GarbageMan headed to the beach to play in his kayak. You can read about his experience here. I was glad to see him back in one piece! Just kidding, but I did have a bit of a healthy worry about his little trip! I always breathe a sigh of relief when I see him return!

The kids shucked corn and we feasted on burgers, dogs, corn, fruit salad and tortellini with pesto sauce. A great meal to end a great 1st day at the beach!
