Wild Animals
Morgan was telling me last night that she and David saw a copperhead on our road. Now, you can be sure that I didn't want to know that and never, ever want to see one! I will always worry about the kids going out to play in the backyard (can you say jungle!?), after all who knows where else there might be a copperhead!
We've seen some pretty harmless creatures around here too - lots and lots of deer, our pesky, lounging-by-the-pool groundhogs, mice (ick), and things like bugs and spiders. They grow spiders pretty big this close to the woods, but so far (knock on wood!), I haven't seen anything too, too ugly. Our next door neighbors did find quite a few black widow spiders when they moved in - I think I'm ready to move now.
Snakes and spiders are just not my thing.
Nor are middle school dances.
Tonight Caroline's school held a Halloween dance. The kids got to dress up and hang out and move in strange ways to loud music. I went inside the cafeteria for a very short time to get a few pictures and to make sure she knew people there, and then I headed to the nearest coffee shop to get some work done. More my thing!
Caroline had a great time at the dance. I don't know if she actually ever danced herself, but I do know that at one particular moment there were 21 pairs of 6th graders dancing! She prefers to call them pairs rather than couples because ...well, she's 11! Here she's with two of her girl scout buddies and a new friend.
