Flying Up
Today was Katherine's' last day as a Brownie Girl Scout. Her troop held their fly-up ceremony at Kemper Park on this beautiful sunny afternoon. First the girls recited the Girl Scout Law and then they sang Make New Friends. Then, one by one, they received their green ribbon sash to symbolize their new Junior status and crossed over to the Junior side of the trees! They were then presented with a daisy wreath and a green candle. After the candles were lit and the girls read a poem, we were all treated to a beautiful and tasty cake from Chandlers! Ooh Aah! The girls were also given a treat box with a package of daisy seeds, brownie, and a box of Junior Mints!
The little brothers played nicely nearby, and suddenly appeared and sat quietly when the scouts were lighting their candles. The big sisters, Molly and Caroline, who are already Junior Girl Scouts, helped things along and then later served the cake!
