Meeting the Bus
There are days lately when my boy is so unbelievably agreeable that I begin to forget the days of his terrible 2s and 3 1/2s, and memories of those tiring days drift off into the far recesses of my cluttered mind. Bliss.
Today was not one of those days.
From the get go this boy balked. He didn't want to get up, eat breakfast, get dressed, put his shoes on, put his backpack on, get into the van, buckle, or meet the bus. Once we got into the van and at the end of the road, he was fine and went willingly with our sweet bus driver.
There's something about going to preschool that sets his tracks straight. He was as happy as he could be when I came to pick up the boys, and insisted that Gabe come over. It was a good thing that Gabe wanted to come!
They got along just fine, until it was time to walk up the road to meet the school bus. They both wanted to clip the leash on Gracie and walk her. Will was being so uncooperative that Gabe got to clip the leash on and have first walking honors.
Before too long it was Will's turn. Notice the boys have lollipops to keep their mouths happy while we walked. Will's worked for about three licks when he decided he didn't like his flavor.
The boys and the dog stopped at the stick, which keeps them from getting too close to the road. Gabe dropped his lollipop and got another one, which meant Will needed another one too. Not a problem, I had a pocketful.
Gracie decided she didn't mind a little dirt on a lollipop so she finished off Gabe's first one while the boys finished their second ones.
The bus came but no one got off. Katherine had been picked up by Gabe's mom!
One the way home, we talked with three different neighbors and talked about all the bears that Gabe has caught, and the Suburban that he bought for a dollar and a penny.
